How to help and prevent acne

For a lot of people especially in their teenage years, they go through a phase in which they feel like their skin hates them. I know you know what I am talking about, ACNE, PIMPLES, BREAKOUTS! It all sucks. Then when you think that it’s over, for some people it’s not, it goes into their adult years, and no one really has time for that. So keep reading for some tips on how to help and prevent future breakouts.

  1. WASH YOUR FACE: This is a basic rule when trying to prevent breakouts. Washing it twice a day, in the morning and at night. This is important because you want to remove all of the excess dirt and oil from your skin. And for those of you who wear makeup, this is really important. When washing your face try to avoid harsh cleansers and use alcohol free cleansers.
  2. MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN: I know that we talk about this a lot! But this is really important. You want to help the skin stay hydrated. With all the products in today’s world with all the different fragrances and chemicals in them, it is more likely to get a breakout from these, due to the irritation od the skin. That is why it’s recommended that you use a fragrance-free, noncomedogenic moisturizer, like shea butter.
  3. GET TO KNOW YOUR SKIN: You want to know your skin type so that you can know how to treat it from a breakout. People who have oily skin tend to have more pimple prone skin, then those who have dry skin.
  4. STAY HYDRATED: Keeping your skin hydrated is important, but so is keeping your body hydrated. Drinking enough water has so many benefits, not just for your skin, but your overall health. When you are dehydrated your body signals your oil glands and produce more oil. It is said to drink at least half your body weight in ounces a day, at first it will be hard, but over time your body adapts and thanks you for it!
  5. DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE: We made a post about this the other day on our social media. Stop touching your face. The bacteria and dirt that your hand encounter throughout the day is gross. And each time you touch your face you put that bacteria and dirt on your face. Causing you to clog up your pores. This is also true with your phone. For people who talk on the phone all day, and have it up to your ear. Make sure to keep the phone clean, because that can also put the germs on your face.
  6. AVOID JUNK FOOD: I am not telling you to cut out all bad foods. But the foods you put in your body, affect your skin. It so amazing how much of a different you can tell when you stop eating junk food, and eat healthier. This is from personal experience, and once I stopped eating terrible, my skin cleared up!
  7. EXERCISE AND REDUCE STRESS: like cutting out bad food, exercising and reducing stress could help reduce breakouts. The stress its self doesn’t cause the breakouts, but when your stressed your body tends to produce more oil simulating hormones that cause the breakouts. As for exercising as you will be sweating, so make sure to take a shower and wash well afterwards. Exercising helps your overall help, and that will help your skin.
  8. STOP POPING PIMPLESS: although it may be tempting to pop the pimples, don’t. It could cause them to leave a scar, or become infected, making your pimple become worse. The best way it so really wash your face good.

So if you have pimples, breakouts or acne here are some tips on preventing and helping it.
