10 Tips To Protect and Restore Your Hair

Everyone on TV have perfect, bouncy, shiny, split end free hair - but that is not reality. These actors, actresses, models and influencers make it seem so easy to maintain a flawless mane. They have us running to the store in flocks buying expensive brand name shampoos and conditioners. Unfortunately, these products rarely work as well as we expect them too. The good news is that there are some natural ways to achieve hair greatness. Follow these simple tips to get the luster and shine of a Kardashians wig.

Tip #1. Keep it Clean
A lot of hair issues stem from a dirty scalp. As a matter of fact the most common reason for hair loss is dandruff and itchy scalp. This is way keeping your hair clean (do not over wash though!) is the most important tip.

Tip #2. Don't over wash
Just as important as it is to wash your hair it is just as important to not over wash it. Do not wash your hair more than 2 - 3 times per week. This will prevent you from stripping your natural oils.

Tip #3. Watch your water temperature
Hot showers feel divine but they are bad for your skin and hair. The hot water will strip you hair of its protective oils and make your hair dry and brittle especially if you have natural 4C hair. Skip hot water showers and keep your water temperature just above your body temperature.

Tip #4. Honey is good for more than tea
Add 2-3 tbsp of honey to your hair conditioner. Apply the mixture evenly through your freshly washed hair. Leave it for 30 minutes and rinse. Apply honey to your tresses will seal your hair's cuticles and give you amazing shine.

Tip #5. Make your own protein conditioner
Mix whole eggs and yogurt for a protein rich conditioner. Rub conditioner into the scalp and coat the hair shaft all the way to the tips. Leave in your hair for 5 - 10 minutes (20 minutes if you have brittle hair) then wash out completely using cool water.

Tip #6. Do not brush your hair while it is wet
Your hair is three times weaker when it is wet which makes it more likely to break. Towel dry your hair and then gently detangle it with your fingers or a wide tooth comb.

Tip #7. Regularly trim your ends
Trimming your ends every 6 - 8 weeks will eliminate split ends and keep your hair healthy.

Tip #8. Do not put tension on your roots
Putting too much tension on your roots can cause breakage and follicle damage.

Tip #9. Avoid heat damage
It is a myth that your hair can not handle heat but it is true that misusing heat can destroy your hair. First, make sure you are using the right tools. Look for tools that offer different heat settings for different hair needs. Use a hair product made to protect your hair from the heat of dryers, curling irons, or flat irons

Tip #10. Good diet
Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet of raw fruits and vegetables. The best way to keep your hair healthy and thick is through your diet. The old adage "You are what you eat" is true. What you put into your body will show in your skin and hair.
